tip: sharpening pins

When I bought a new box of pins a while ago, I was disappointed to find that a fair number of them had a little ‘hook’ on the end that tended to snag fabric.

I got myself a little sandpaper pad from a stationery shop to take the hooks off the pins. Drag the point along the sandpaper. You can tell that the ‘hook’ is in contact with the sandpaper when it feels like it’s catching. A few strokes should do the trick.
